Mackie HMX56 Tabletop Matrix Mixer/Amplifier

he Mackie HMX56 is a compact tabletop headphone matrix

ixer/amplifier with routing capabilities. It includes stereo main inputs

that are automatically routed to each of the six discrete headphone out-

puts. Four additional mono source inputs can be combined as needed

with the main input feed on a channel-by-channel basis using the on-

oard 4 by 6 source matrix.

The HMX56 also offers an individual effects send for each mono source

input and stereo main mix channel, as well as an effects return control on

each of the six channels.

BSS SB2 Release 2 control software is intended to be used with the

company’s Ominidrive and Minidrive processors. SB2 provides the

ability to select and control more than a single unit simultaneously, in

addition to allowing creation of a custom control panel that incorpo-

rates functions from several devices.

The software also allows selection of the recently adopted WHISE-

WORKS – NTM filter type in the (Omnidrive) FDS-366T and Minidrive,

which provides a higher performance fourth-order crossover filter. SB2

is designed to run on the latest PC operating systems, including

Windows 2000 and XP.

Sensitivity figures range from 92 dB (“MB”) to 98 dB (“CBMR”). Truncated basket

designs minimize acoustical center spacing and facilitate line array applications; how-

ever

, the driver parameters are also practical for standard three-way designs. Other

specifics include Kapton coil formers, Ferrite magnets, vented cores and paper cones.

The SLS Loudspeakers P-LS8695 is a powered version of the company’s LS8695 compact line source array loud-

speaker. The P-LS8695 incorporates 24 bit, 96 kHz DSP that was developed utilizing acoustic performance algo-

rithms optimized for the LS8695.

Two high-power digital amplifiers were incorporated to independently power the low- (1000 watts) and high-

frequency drivers (500 watts). The input to the amplifier section is fully balanced with adjustable sensitivity, and a

balanced transmitter is included for looping multiple loudspeakers. Also available is a selectable 80 kHz high-pass

filter for the low-frequency section when using an additional subwoofer.
